Recently, I looked into Hyderabad Industries Limited (HDIL) and discussed my analysis on this blog. There were few comments and mild discussion with reference to my conclusion and turnaround aspect of the HDIL. Simultaneously, I also posted the same analysis on Moneyvidya’s blog. Over at Moneyvidya’s blog, the discussion was also centered on similar characteristics of HDIL. There were few good points which I believe would be worth mentioning on my blog too. Therefore, I am presenting those points here with some additional thoughts. Readers can refer to the original discussion. There are two different aspects in this conversation. One aspect is about how this commentator critics my observations and my analysis. It would be fair to say the analysis was trashed, challenged to check the pricing after 6 months, and was asked to eat my pudding. Hyderabad Industries: Stock Analysis for Long Term Investments
Hyderabad Industries Ltd (BSE:HYDIND) sells products in the building and construction industry. Its product range include Fibre Cement roofing sheets in the name of CHARMINAR, Autoclaved Aerated Concrete Blocks and Panels called AEROCON, Calcium Silicate insulation product called HYSIL, joining material for Gaskets, Plant and machinery for these products.
HYDIND is a part of C.K.Birla group of Companies. This group of Birla’s also owns the waning Hindustan Motors (i.e. Ambassador brand). My objective in this analysis to see if HYDIND is a good fit for my portfolio.
Trend Analysis
The whole reason for any business to exist is to generate sales revenue and make more profits. At a minimum, the parameters listed below should have continuously increasing trends. All the data below is based on last 10 years i.e. from 2000 to 2009.
Shortlisting Five Companies for Potential Long Term Investment Analysis
Last week, I discussed my stock screening process and four matrices that I use for short listing the company for further evaluations. One of the traits of any successful investor (or for that matter even a trader) is that they keep a watch list of stocks and monitor its performance. Since the market has run up and we investors believe that stocks are overpriced, it is time to prepare our watch list. In addition, after establishing the watch list, it is also important to determine what would be the price you would be willing to pay to buy it.
